Potato cheese – what to use it for?
Some people hate cooking, while for others cooking is pure pleasure. When we lack ideas for lunch or an exquisite dinner, it is worth being inspired by others. Food blogs are full of recipes for all kinds of dishes. It is true that there are relatively few pages with ideas for vegetarians and vegans. However, you can find some really interesting inspirations on them. On their blogs, vegans tell you how to make potato cheese yourself, and how to use it in the kitchen. There are many ideas, and each new one is getting tastier.
Perfect for sandwiches
Potato cheese may be more or less firm. It all depends on whether we add chickpea flour to it or not. Creamy potato cheese is perfect for spreading on sandwiches. To enrich the taste, we can add a bit of herbs to it. Potato cheese goes well with oregano, rosemary and fresh marjoram. Spread with a herbal note goes well with sandwiches with cucumbers, tomatoes or peppers. In itself, however, it is just as delicious. People who do not like herbs can add a little coarsely ground pepper to the potato cheese. The spice will give the spread a character.
Pizza potato cheese
The home-made potato-based cheese is slightly lumpy. For this reason, it is perfect for pizza. Thanks to its smooth texture, vegan cheese is an ideal alternative to mozzarella, gouda or parmesan cheese. Since you don’t have to rub it, it only takes a minute to prepare the pizza. It is best to add cheese at the end of baking. You can also pour it over the finished pizza. Potato cheese will also taste good on toast or casserole. It is worth noting that spreading cheese is better for baking. The slicing one will taste just as good, but its texture won’t be like melted gouda.
Great for pasta
Spaghetti a’la carbonara or pasta in cheese sauce are dishes that are easy to recreate even if you are vegan. The consistency of the potato cheese is like processed cheese. After adding herbs to it, you can get a delicious sauce. The slightly tough, creamy cheese goes perfectly with the pasta. Accompanied by tofu and tomatoes, it tastes great. On the basis of potato cheese, you can prepare not only cheese sauce, but also mushroom sauce. Just add a bit of grated and fried mushrooms or chanterelles to it.
Works great as a dip
Thanks to its creamy texture, the potato cheese can make a delicious dip. Its taste goes well with salty sticks or chips. Vegan cheese also goes well with grissini sauce. You can add a little chilli pepper, jalapeno or fresh herbs to it to add variety to the taste of the snacks. Some people pour cheese over the popcorn. Snacks with the addition of an unusual sauce at parties will surprise all guests. Even non-vegan ones.
An interesting addition to the appetizers
I guess we all like starters. One bite dishes are perfect for a family party, date or meeting with friends. Vegans, instead of mayonnaise or cheese sauce, can serve potato cheese as an addition to appetizers. The spread has a chewy consistency, which makes it a perfect dip for soy chops or baked vegetables. Sliced potato cheese has a firmer consistency. For this reason, it can be added to finger foods and rolls. Potato hard cheese is also a great addition to mini burgers. By itself, together with tofu and grapes, it can create an exquisite cheese board.
