Civilization diseases arise not only as a result of air and water pollution, but also food products. One of them is meat. Antibiotics and hormones administered to animals go to our plates and to our body. The best solution would be to give up eating meat products altogether, but for many people it seems impossible. It is worth refraining from eating meat every day. Thanks to this, our wallet will be thicker and we will be able to afford to buy really good and wholesome meat, which costs much more than chicken or beef sold on the shelves in a supermarket. Do you know what’s in such meat? Very often animals are sick, but their meat is brought to sale anyway. How to choose healthy meat – you will learn how to choose healthy meat in our article.
Healthy meat
White and red meat is not only about color. The type and content of fat are also taken into account here. White meat is, of course, chicken, turkey, rabbit, veal and ostrich. Red meat is beef, pork, lamb, duck, goose. Obviously, white meat contains less fat and less cholesterol. As a result, white meat is less caloric than red meat. A significant difference can be seen on the example of 100 g of turkey breast, which contains 85 kcal and 2 g of saturated fatty acids, and a pork shoulder as much as 259 kcal and 8 g of saturated fatty acids.
Meat contains a large amount of protein, which is quite easily digestible. The best source of protein from meats is lean chicken and turkey, which is recommended for obese people as well as for the elderly and children. Eat 100 g of turkey meat to cover your daily protein requirements.
Meat is also rich in iron, which is why it works well on the menu of people suffering from anemia. In addition, meat contains a lot of minerals such as zinc, phosphorus, magnesium , copper, sulfur, as well as many B vitamins , which have a great impact on the nervous system and metabolism.
It is best to keep the proportions and eat meat with a large amount of vegetables or fruit, if we choose spinach or beetroot, the iron, which is rich in both products, will be even better absorbed by our body. It is also worth remembering that some of these vitamins decompose when exposed to light … and vitamin B6 is destroyed when meat is frozen, so only fresh meat will be wholesome and the healthiest for our body.
The most protein comes from lean, non-sticky meat, without tendons. This is, for example, chicken and beef roast beef. Research confirms that people who eat a lot of beef and pork are more likely to develop cancer, cardiovascular and metabolic diseases. White meat contains less fat and fewer calories. However, if you decide to have red meat, choose the one that is of the best quality, e.g. beef tenderloin or pork loin.
Eating red meat in large quantities contributes to metabolic diseases, diabetes, cancer, cardiovascular disease, arthritis and macular degeneration … red only a few times a month. An alternative to meat is also fish, which is rich in omega-3 fatty acids. Vegans, on the other hand, supply their body with legumes such as soybeans, lentils, beans, chickpeas, which also provide wholesome protein and vitamins.
Healthy meat – where to buy
You can get healthy meat in organic stores, which are abundant in larger cities. It is to such stores that meat is delivered by breeders who care about the quality of breeding. These farms have to undergo a series of inspections in order to obtain the appropriate certificates enabling their sale in the eco departments.
If there is no health food store in our city, healthy meat can be found in online stores, which often offer free delivery after making larger purchases.
To make sure your meat is tested and fresh, buy it from stores, not from a market stall. Very often, people mistakenly choose to buy meat at the market, claiming that if the meat is from the countryside, bought directly from the breeder, it is certainly healthy and without preservatives. Nothing could be further from the truth … The lack of a cold store on the stall is the first alarm for which it is not worth buying such meat. In addition, very often such meat is not tested at all.
The only disadvantage of healthy meat without unnecessary additives, antibiotics, steroids and hormones is unfortunately its price, which can knock you off your feet. This is one of the reasons why people keep supplying their refrigerators with meat from supermarkets, which is of poor quality and spoils our health … But you can find a way to do it. We just need to eat less meat. Isn’t it better to eat really good quality meat twice a week and feel full and happy than to eat tasteless meat loaded with steroids and hormones from animals that were sick before …?
Remember not to buy large amounts of meat. Buy them in small quantities and on a regular basis, because meat is a product that spoils quickly, and frozen food does not taste the same anymore and, of course, loses its value. Besides, thanks to this, you will avoid unnecessary waste of food if you do not manage to eat the whole piece before the decay process begins.
Meat healthy or not?
Not only the excess of consumed protein and animal fat, which are found in meat, lead to serious diseases. Some sugar in meat also has a negative impact on our health. It is sialic acid, which plays an important role in the animal body (necessary for the transmission of signals between cells) that humans do not have. However, as a result of evolution, the human body began to produce another substance to replace sialic acid … After examining healthy human tissue, which then turned cancerous, it was shown that sialic acid was there … Studies have shown that this poisonous compound is deposited in ours cells, although most are excreted, small amounts are enough to form a tumor. This compound is most often found in the bloodstream,
Pork meat – healthy or not?
Eating pork frequently, especially if it is improperly prepared and loaded with antibiotics, does not end well. This threatens not only with serious diseases such as cancer. There are many more potential threats! Eating pork can also lead to microbial infections and neurological diseases … Pork products, especially the liver, can carry hepatitis E, which is usually asymptomatic, but if our body is weakened, it causes fever, weakness, vomiting, abdominal and joint pain and jaundice. To avoid these dangers and neutralize the virus, cook the pork for 20 minutes to a temperature of about 71 degrees Celsius. High temperature reduces the risk of microbial infection,
The World Health Organization classifies pork and other types of red meat as possibly causing cancer, and foods such as salami, cold cuts, and sausages as causing cancer. Eating such meat daily increases the risk of colorectal cancer by as much as 18%. Conversely, eating red meat on a regular basis is linked to cancer of the pancreas, lung and esophagus.
Eating pork cerebellum is just as dangerous. Pig brain tissue is treated by the human body as an intruder, so when it enters our body, the immune system produces antibodies. This is because pig antigens are similar to certain proteins in human nerve cells, so the antibodies attack not only animal cells but also the human nervous system! This leads to autoimmune diseases. But that’s not all … Pork may be associated with MS.
Application? It is definitely worth reducing the consumption of pork on your menu and, above all, before cooking it (also applies to beef), salt it and then rinse thoroughly with water. You should also remember to grill such meat only on special trays and at least 10 centimeters from the fire.
The Food and Nutrition Institute recommends not to consume more than 500 g of red meat after cooking (before cooking, the weight of such a piece is approximately 700 – 750 g). So it means that we cannot eat more than 3 chops a week. Only in this way will we provide the body with the optimal amount of protein and not damage organs such as the kidneys and liver.
Healthy Meat Recipes
Remember that the best for you, the healthiest and most easily digestible, is boiled or stewed meat. Fried meat is soaked with fat and becomes covered with a very hard-to-digest coating … Delicate types of meat should be steamed (these are veal, poultry, rabbit and ostrich). Such meat will retain all the nutrients, it will be juicy and easy to digest.
If you like roasted meat, remember to bake it in foil. The benefits of such stewing in your own sauce are the preservation of all the taste, nutrients and vitamins, as well as less calories! It is also worth grilling meat, but not over an open fire, because the fat dripping on the coals causes the formation of carcinogenic smoke, which we eat with the meat. You should, therefore, put a tray or foil.
In order to further enhance the taste of the meat being prepared, it is worth adding herbs and vegetables to the dish.
